I only really buy these Lego magazines if I think the free Lego on the front is worth the cover price. The content of the magazine does not really interest me all that much. As a child I would have loved these magazines they include comics, activities and competitions as well as the free Lego toy every month.
This month in the Ninjago magazine you get a "Limited Edition" Kai minifigure. They say limited edition but it usually means they've mixed up some figure pieces and accessories to create a figure that technically does not appear in any of the sets. Using Brikipedia I found that the torso and legs for this version of Kai are the same as the Zukin armor Kai featured in the early 2015 Ninjago sets. However instead of the ninja mask piece used in the set version of the figure they use Kai's standard hair piece and a bandanna making this figure technically an exclusive but not really as no unique parts are used. The face print is standard for Kai but it is a little more detailed than the head piece used in the 2016 Target Minifigure Cube. He has only one face print but he does have printing on the back of his torso.
I quite like this figure and I feel it was worth it as I don't get many Ninjago sets so i didn't already have the parts this figure was made up from. If you get a lot of Ninjago sets this figure might not be worth it for you as there is nothing actually exclusive about it.
The accessories included are a dual sword holster piece for his back with a katana and a cutlass both in silver which fit in nice with the current sky pirate enemies in the Ninjago sets. He also has quite a nice grappling hook which you build using a stud shooter pistol, an apollo stud a hook piece and a chain.
The little packet that the figure comes in annoys me slightly as the graphic used behind the figure has a different torso design to the figure itself. The graphic also has a golden katana which is not included with this figure. It's annoying but I don't intend on keeping the packet anyway so I'm sure I'll get over it eventually.
In the back of the magazine is a promo for the toy included in the next magazine. The next issue includes a figure of Clouse and includes "magic swirls" and a "magic lamp". I am not familiar with this character but I found out that he only appears in one set (70748 Titanium Dragon) making him fairly rare. Looking at pictures of this character he is usually printed on dark red plastic but the image in the magazine looks like the standard red so this one could actually be an exclusive. He also has a red hood piece rather than the hair he has in the Titanium Dragon set. The swirls look similar to the ones used for the Cosmic Boy minigure that will hopefully be released soon. I will definitely be picking up the March issue for this minigure.
