Lego Ideas Pick: Red Dwarf Lego

Time for yet another Lego Ideas Pick, this time we're looking at a Lego rendition of a classic British sci-Fi comedy TV Series. Red Dwarf is a series that myself and many others grew up watching. It ran for 10 series starting in 1988 on BBC 2 and the latest series ended more recently on Dave in 2012. Apparently they an 11th and 12th series are in production right now and will probably air this year and the next. Anyway enough about the show and onto the project. My pick this time is Red Dwarf Lego by Legobob32.

The Set focuses on a small section of the ship being the crews sleeping quarters specifically from season X. The set is designed really well and in my opinion is instantly recognisable as it is a major set piece in the show. Six minifigures are included, four of which are the main characters of the show and the other two being the very popular alternate reality (kind of) characters Duane Dibley and Ace Rimmer. I think the figures look fantastic and especially like Duane Dibley whit his thermos accessory.

Other builds in the set include one of the infamous and mischievous scutter robots and Blue Midget which is a shuttle craft used by the crew on excursions outside of red dwarf itself. Blue midget is not the among the most iconic ships on the show in my opinion but it is memorable and looks great in Lego form. Starbug would be a more iconic choice but obviously would be much larger which is probably why the creator avoided using it.

In summary I think this project is a fantastic build with interesting minifigures and I encourage everyone to back it as I will be.
