Time for another Lego Ideas Pick and This time it's The Secret of Monkey Island by Vitreolum.
I had a flick through the Lego Ideas pages and this one really jumped out at me as being both an original concept and very well designed. You Can find the project here.
I'm a huge Monkey Island fan ever since playing a demo of The Curse of Monkey Island back when you got PC game demo's on discs attached to the front of magazines. I got the game and played through it several times and decided to track down the originals. I remember finding them in a box set White Label (a bit like a classics range for PC) edition in HMV and had to have it. I played through them both and loved them as much as Curse of Monkey Island. For anyone who has not played them I can not recommend them enough. You can get the special editions of the first to games On Steam or GOG and they show up in the sales every now and again so keep an eye out for them.
This Ideas project focuses on the first game in the series and the build is of the iconic stone monkey head of Monkey Island. The model is really nicely designed with lots of detail and clever use of certain Lego elements. Also represented in minifigure form is main character of the series, Guybrush Threepwood. The set could be improved slightly by adding some items the player would find in that particular section of the game such as the giant q-tip or even a mechanism to open the monkey's mouth. I think this would be a great little set that could even fit in well with the existing Pirate themes. At the time of writing this project has 1638 supporters and only 203 days left so let's try and push that up to the 10,000 supporter requirement.
