As the weather is beginning to get colder I thought it would be appropriate to make the Ice Queen the subject of my next Lego series 16 minifigure review. I thought an Ice Queen was an interesting choice for a minifigure considering the popularity of Frozen. Are kids ready to welcome an Ice Queen other than Elsa into their toy collections?
The Ice Queen looks fantastic with an appropriately chilling blue and silver colour scheme. She has a very regal looking white hair piece with a hole in it to fit her icy blue tiara. She has light blue head with a single face print. I especially like the white markings around the eyes and the silver lips. The torso only has printing on the front which is fine as the back is covered by a cape anyway. The torso design represents a white dress silver design with a silver necklace as a nice detail. She is the only figure in this series to have a slope as the legs piece so she is fairly easy to feel out in the bags and the design on the slop piece continues her icy blue and silver dress design. Even the arms a printed with continuing the blue design at the cuff of her sleeves.
Her accessories are two transparent blades of ice. She holds them using the recent transparent 1x1 plate with a bar attached. The ice blades change in colour and opacity giving them a nice effect. Finally one of the parts to stand out the most on the ice queen her cape. The cape is actually two pieces as the collar piece is separate. The cape is white on the outside with shiny dots on the inside similar to Vitruvius from the Lego Movie. It also has a spiky effect which is a little more drastic than the similar design of Batman’s cape.
The Ice Queen is another great figure for another great minifigure series. She looks fantastic with brilliantly icy colours and interesting accessories. I think she was a brave choice of character and It’s a choice I’m glad they made.
