So here in the UK the newspaper The Daily Mail is running a free Lego promotion. Basically you buy the paper take a voucher to one of a few shops where you can redeem the free Lego and they'll hand you one over. The first of these free Lego poly bags was the Lone Ranger set 30260 (Lone Ranger's Pump Car). I got hold of one of these on Saturday and have been collecting the others as the week goes on. Anyway here is my little review of the Lone Ranger Pump Car.
Here is a look at the outer packaging and the instructions. Not much to say about this really. I'll just take this opportunity to say that I have not seen the Lone Ranger movie but quite like the look of the sets. I think if you just forget about the Lone Ranger license you can just treat these sets as a new western theme.
Here he is, The Lone Ranger himself in minifig form. I quite like this figure actually, I really like the hat piece and the dual revolvers. The printing on the torso is really well designed and the figure also has back printing. He also has some printing on the front of his legs to make his coat and shirt look longer.
Onto The buildable part of this set. The pump car. This was a really quick and simple build, nothing too complicated or exciting. However the pump car looks pretty cool and utilizes some decent parts.
My only complaint about the pump cart is that once you place the minifigure on the edge of it there actually isn't any room for the pumping mechanism (tee-he) to work. when the lone ranger is on there the handle is wedged so close to him that it cant move. Oh well, we can't win em all can we.
In conclusion I quite liked this little set. The minifigure is really cool and the build although not complicated does reward you with a nifty looking pump car. It also helps that I can't really complain as I did get this free with a 90p newspaper.
On a side note it probably took me longer to make that wanted poster at the top of the page than it did to write this review.
